Dogs Welcome
Dogs have been part of my life since When I was a child of 7 and got a very surprise birthday present of a border terrier pup. She settled into our lives quickly, never scrapping with our farm collies, being a very vocal guard dog for the farmhouse and catching vermin in the cattle sheds. Mike and I have had several dogs in our 40 years of marriage. Weimeraners ( we were one of the first English breeders of these beautiful hunting dogs) and Border Collies, then on to Jack Russell’s (such a change) which we seemed to have stuck with for over 20 years. Now only faithful old Casper and two gorgeous cats, Myrtle and Tommy Tittlemouse.
I have grown up with ponies and horses being a large part of my life. Dad bought us a gorgeous pure Connemara that had come over by ferry from Southern Ireland. My sister and I learnt to ride on Snowy, the perfect pony and spent all our summers exploring the valley and the fells around the farm. We have enclosed grazing for up to 4 horses and space to park horse boxes. With direct access to a network of bridleways The Westmorland Dales makes a wonderful horse riding holiday.
Visitors staying in The Shepherds Hut and The Wood Hen Houses are welcome to have their dog sleeping in the hut.
Our Self Catering cottage – The Brew House, located in just down the road in Maulds Meaburn is an especially good choice if you are on holiday with your dog.
Cost is £25.00/stay/dog. Grazing livery £10.00/horse/night.
