Tucked into the wildflower meadows of our Dales farm, the Meadow Den sleeps two adults.
The pod has two bench beds with comfy mattresses — please bring all your own bedding.
Crake Trees campsite is off grid, and the generator runs morning and evening.
The Meadow Den sits close to the underfloor-heated shower block and camp kitchen, with parking right by the pod. One or two dogs are welcome.
You can also pre-order a firepit kit or breakfast baps.
The Shower Block
We have a spacious — and rather unique — shower block. Each individual wet room has underfloor heating, a toilet, a powerful overhead shower and a quirky hand-washing sink.
We’re the first site in the north to offer individual wet rooms with underfloor heating.
The Camp Kitchen
The camp kitchen has fresh drinking water, plenty of hot water, two dishwashing sinks and a small gas stove for boiling the kettle. Please bring your own cool box.
Fire Pits
Please don’t bring your own fuel for the fire pits. All wood and fuel must be bought from our on-site supply.
Firepit starter kits are collected from the camp kitchen, which runs as an honesty store stocking starter kits and nets of logs. Just see Mike or Ruth to pay.
- Firepit starter kit: £15
- Extra nets of logs: £10
Cash only, please.
The Farm
Crake Trees Manor is a regenerative farm, and we work hard to create a beautiful place that’s rich in wildlife.
Our informal grass camping field sits at the heart of the farm, surrounded by wildlife and farm animals. Around the site you’ll see free-range hens, outdoor pigs (with piglets through the summer), rare-breed Border Leicester sheep and lambs, and a grazing herd of Belted Galloways.
Please treat them with respect — we’re a working farm, not a farm park.
Things to Do at Crake Trees
Our campsite is set in the Westmorland Dales, part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, which makes it an ideal base for exploring the wild north. The Pennines stretch away to the east, the Howgills lie to the south towards Sedbergh, and the Scottish borderlands sit far to the north.
You can walk to the Butchers Arms, our community pub in the village. Most villages around the valley and out towards the Lake District have great pubs that make the most of our local food.
The campsite has direct access to footpaths and cycling trails, and guide booklets are available in the camp kitchen.
Ullswater, Lowther Castle, the lovely market town of Penrith and the National Trust’s Acorn Bank and Sizergh Castle are all a short drive away.
Before You Arrive
Check in is from 3pm. Late arrivals are absolutely fine, as long as you arrive quietly.
Check out is by 10:30am, though you’re welcome to leave your car in the car park until the afternoon if you’re still exploring the local villages.
Dogs
Up to two dogs are welcome to share your pod.
Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times while on the farm, and dog waste must be cleaned up and disposed of in our waste bins.
Drug Policy
At Crake Trees we operate a zero-tolerance policy on the use and possession of drugs. If you’d like to take drugs while on holiday, please don’t come and stay with us.
