For 30 years our family have enjoyed welcoming visitors to the farm. Our family, Laura, William and India have grown up with the ever changing mix of cultures, accents and adventure that visitors bring with them, and now it is our grandchildren who are keen to meet our guests.
We live right at the centre of the farm. Crake Trees Manor is our business and our life.
We are happy here, we hope you will be too ……..Ruth & Mike
Ancient and Modern
Set in a broad valley which stretches from Scotland to Yorkshire, our farm is surrounded by evidence of human habitation stretching far back into the mists of time. On the farm itself is the ruin of a C14th manor house with a potentially more ancient history, the Tower House has an interesting past, it has been saved from complete ruin in the last century. The farmhouse is barn conversion which has a very modern feel, this is a living farm.
Living by our principles
Our family are very involved in local life; our daughter runs a cafe just down the road, Mike makes green wood furniture from fallen trees and wood that needs to be felled, plus all the family are involved in the farm.
We manage a small flock of rare breed Border Leicester sheep as well as native cattle, they feed off our lush grass, which grows naturally well in our valley.
We are now entering a phase of rewilding which will increase the amount of wildlife on the farm.
Our village
The sweet village of Crosby Ravensworth clusters around the church, whilst the river meanders through its heart. Ancient stepping stones cross the Lyvvenet Beck allowing you to sit and contemplate the river from its centre. The source of the river the Crosby Ravensworth Fell rises up above the village and offers the potential of good walking.
The pub is owned by the community and the Butcher’s Arms offers great food and good craft beer.
